Major Russian Strikes Cut Power Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were injured.

The attacks follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
